TOM PATERSON
Appearance ID. Number: 3 Debut: 1996 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Skip’ ‘Tommy’ ‘TP’
| |
The TBCT skipper is a versatile batsman that has occupied nearly every position in the order. A flashing blade often sees the ball disappearing over the covers. Lofty leg spin with a hint of turn mystifies the best of Nottinghamshire batsmen! |
PAUL McCUE
Appearance ID. Number: 4 Debut: 1996 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Macca’ ‘Mr Magoo’
| |
TBCT's retired wicket keeper now bowls a tricky medium pace and enjoys testing batsman on the greener seaming wickets. By no means a tail ender "Macca" will bat around 8 or 9 and can provide a late boost of runs. A slip cordon specialist he will also be the voice and motivator for the team. |
DAVID KNOX
Appearance ID. Number: 6 Debut: 1996 RH Bat – RA Medium AKA: ‘Knoxy’ ‘Knocker’
| |
A true all rounder, David can be deployed anywhere in the batting line up and is always on call for a spell of tidy away swing. Steady and solid batsmen that will construct an innings with time and thought. The bowling will be a nagging line and length waiting for the batsman to make the mistake. Very safe hands in the field. |
ALEX PICKER
Appearance ID. Number: 30 Debut: 1997 RH Bat – RA ??? AKA: ‘Pix’ ‘Al’
| |
Alex Picker is a true TBCT man. Although appearances have been few and far between in recent years, mention TBCT to anyone and Picker is the man they remember. A former social secretary makes this chap a players’ favourite. If only his innings at the crease were as lengthy as his drinking sessions... |
MIKE TEW
Appearance ID. Number: 39 Debut: 1998 RH Bat – RA leg spin AKA: ‘Tewie’
|
|
The Plumtree lad is somewhat of an all rounder for TBCT. Pinch hitting evening league batter, big turning leg spin bowler, superb fielder with a bullet arm and also been known to don the keeping gloves. Look out for 'Tewie' in the averages, he'll be top in one of them! |
KUMUD WIJAYARATNA
Appearance ID. Number: 57 Debut: 2000 RH Bat – RA Medium AKA: ‘Wij’ ‘Wijjy’ ‘Coach’
| |
A TBCT Legend in every respect. 'Wij' is a quality number 3 batsman that can play all the shots and more. A prolific run scorer against the quicks and spinners alike, this man deals in centuries! A top coach that has helped many other players in the TBCT set up. Close fielding is the speciality and bowling for special occasions only. |
TIM TAYLOR
Appearance ID. Number: 62 Debut: 2001 RH Bat – RA Medium AKA: ‘Timmy T’ ‘TT’ ‘Audi’
| |
The Long Eaton Sunday Skipper features mainly in evening league games for TBCT. A classy looking opener to middle order batsman Tim drives with power and grace to all corners of the field. An under used bowler that has the unique ability to deliver troubling in swingers! Solid fielder and occasional Wicket Keeper. |
ROB GOODWIN
Appearance ID. Number: 65 Debut: 2001 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Robbie’ 'Roberto' 'Robbie G' 'Goodie' 'G &T'
| |
Mr Goodwin has a ferocious competitive spirit that keeps everyone on their toes. As a batsman he enjoys nothing more than biffing stray balls to the boundary. The biggest match winning performances have come with the ball. A hit the deck bowler with decent pace, makes great use of the evening league astro wickets. |
STEVE EDWARDS
Appearance ID. Number: 73 Debut: 2002 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Stevie’ ‘The Barrel’
| |
When the bowling isn't going to plan its Mr Edwards that is called upon to bring things back into line. A unique style of spin that is bowled with a touch of pace has proved 'Stevie' a very consistent wicket taker. Impressive economy rates warrants a front line role for evening league bowling. 9-10- Jack batsman, but don't be fooled he can hold up an end! |
NIGEL MURRAY
Appearance ID. Number: 75 Debut: 2002 LH Bat – LA Medium Occasional WK AKA: ‘Nige’
| |
Son of legendary West Indies captain Deryck Murray, Nige has inherited plenty of that talent. A classy looking batsman with seemingly all the time in the world to play his wristy shots. Quality keeper, great hands as they say in the trade! Bowling with his unique action Nige generates decent pace. |
BARRIE RAINSFORD
Appearance ID. Number: 79 Debut: 2002 RH Bat – RA medium AKA: ‘Baz’ ‘Bazza’ ‘Rocker’
| |
Having played a decent standard of club cricket in his formative years, Barrie brings league level experience to the side. Early order batsman that will plan an innings with thought. Bowling has made a comeback in recent years using his experience to get the best out of the wickets. A talented and clever cricketer! |
JAMIE DICKINSON
Appearance ID. Number: 81 Debut: 2004 RH Bat – RA Medium / Fast AKA: ‘Dicko (Jnr)’ ‘JD’ ‘Jay’
| |
Still improving as a cricketer Dicko has started to show some of his early promise in recent seasons. An all rounder that has the ability to change a game quickly but will be looking for more consistent performances throughout the Summer fixtures. Not a very good wicket keeper, but still better than Neil Vanderwalt! |
SIMON CLEAVES
Appearance ID. Number: 83 Debut: 2003 RH Bat – RA Fast / Medium AKA: ‘Si’ Cleavage’ ‘Red Mist’ ‘Gok’ ‘Waggy’
| |
Simon is a true opening quick, tall, fast and bad tempered! Gallons of potential hasn’t yet been fully realised, some hard work over the winter will help mould Si nearer to the finished article. Simon will be looking to move himself up to the middle order with decent confident knocks early in the season. |
MATT KIRBY
Appearance ID. Number: 85 Debut: 2003 RH Bat – RA off spin AKA: ‘Kirbs’
|
|
Kirbs has shown glimpses of his destructive nature as a batter. Always looking to find the boundary Matt will be an asset for evening league fixtures. A stealth like close fielder will prevent any quick singles from the opposition. |
NEIL VANDERWALT
Appearance ID. Number: 113 Debut: 2004 RH Bat – LA orthodox Wicket Keeper AKA: ‘Vanders’
| |
The current wicket keeper has proved to be a decent stopper behind the sticks with a unorthodox approach to the art! A good encourager for the bowlers and fielders alike. Batting is Jekyll and Hyde, one minute slow and thoughtful the next wham and bam - but always a consistent good scorer! Fast and agile running between the wickets a trademark of the player. |
CHRIS BOTHERWAY
Appearance ID. Number: 122 Debut: 2004 RH Bat – RA Medium AKA: ‘Bothers’
|
|
A newcomer to the sport, Chris makes up for inexperience with bundles of enthusiasm. Decent spells of bowling have shown promise in this department. Batting needs some work but the fielding is whole hearted enough to be effective. A notorious team joker, keep on his side or the next prank is on you! |
ALEX HOLMES
Appearance ID. Number: 127 Debut: 2005 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Al’ ‘Holmesy’ ‘Sherlock’ ‘Basil Fawlty’
| |
A dedicated team player that is committed to improving his all round game. Over the few seasons 'Al' has been with TBCT a measured improvement in the batting department has shown true potential to become a handy middle order bat. The scores are now catching up with that natural ability. A good drinking partner and source of witty banter in the dressing room. |
RICHARD COOPER
Appearance ID. Number: 129 Debut: 2005 RH Bat – RA Slow AKA: ‘Coops’
| |
'Coops' will occupy an early middle order position in the batting line up. A watchful eye to keep out the good deliveries but anything a touch short he's on to like a flash, pulling strongly through mid wicket! A good ground fielder in the cover region. An occasional off spin bowler. |
LEWIS GOODWIN
Appearance ID. Number: 139 Debut: 2006 RH Bat – RA Seamer AKA: ‘Lew’
| |
TBCT’s youngest player and one with bundles of potential. Already the best footballer in the team, it won’t be long before 5 – fors and centuries are also coming his way. If he’s got some of his ol’ mans competitive spirit he’ll be one to watch for the future. |
JOHN WAKELING
Appearance ID. Number: 145 Debut: 2007 LH Bat – LH Fast Medium AKA: ‘Wako’
| |
Wako is the 1st team keeper for high flying Notts Premier League side Papplewick. John forfeits the gloves for TBCT allowing him an opening batter and bowling role. 2009 saw him pick up both the Bowler and Batter of the season awards along with the newly formed MVP (most valuable player) award. Best player in the team – enough said! |
RICHARD McDERMOTT
Apperance ID. Number: 147 Debut: 2007 RH Bat - LH Fast Medium AKA: 'Dicky'
|
| Dicky is 'fidgety' right hand bat that nudges and nurdles the quicks. Really cashes in against the spinners, good footwork a trademark as he hits down the ground. A left hand quick that generates good pace, and with the angle coming over the wicket a real handful for even the best batsmen.
|
PAUL HARRISON
Appearance ID. Number: 148 Debut: 2007 RH Bat – RH ??? Occasional WK AKA: ‘Boonie’
|
|
The Boonster, with whatever elaborate facial hair he chooses to wear on this occasion will rock up to the ground sporting a smile! Couldn’t wish to meet a nicer or more helpful chap. Pretty handy cricketer too, which always helps! The oracle of all things music, always handy to have nearby for the i-pod stroll round the boundary. |
SIMON VANDERWALT
Appearance ID. Number: 151 Debut: 2008 RH Bat – RH Slow AKA: ‘Si’
|
|
Simon – the older and wiser brother to TBCT’s resident keeper Neil, is a relative newcomer to TBCT. Still an unknown quantity on the pitch, his drinking exploits are well documented off it! |
MICHAEL TEMPLE
Appearance ID. Number: 154 Debut: 2008 RH Bat – RH Slow AKA: ‘Mike’ ‘Temps’
|
|
Michael Temple may talk a good game but elements of his cricket need some work. However, his willingness to improve will put him in good stead at TBCT. |
CHANDI
Appearance ID. Number: 155 Debut: 2008 RH Bat – RH off spin AKA: ‘Overseas Pro’ ‘Shandy’ ‘Lager Top’
| |
Recruited by the coach, Kumud, Chandi has been a revelation for TBCT. Playing semi pro cricket in Sri Lanka, Chandi’s quality is undoubted. The combination of breathtaking batting and mystifying spin bowling will make sure this lad goes down in TBCT history. |
RICHARD CLULOW
Appearance ID. Number: 158 Debut: 2009 RH Bat – RH Leg Spin Occasional WK AKA: ‘Rich’ ‘Clueless’
| |
Richard is another newcomer to the TBCT set up. A decent run of games has shown promise in both batting and bowling departments. Wicket keeping in the Evening League isn’t easy but Rich has had a good go at the job! No doubt looking forward to future opportunities to make a big impact with the bat. |
CHRIS RODDIS-FERRARI
Appearance I.D. Number: 159 Debut: 2009 RH Bat – RH Medium
AKA:
| |
Chris joined up with mate Vanders to come and play for TBCT. Promising spells with the ball have hinted to a solid 1st change seamer. While the batting performances have been spirited knocks– proving himself to be no rabbit and one to see just how far he can go up the order. |
