A Knox to the Achilles (30th July 2010)

TBCT all rounder David Knox suffered a ruptured achilles whilst batting against Clumber Park in a recent Sunday fixture. TBCT players will be pleased to know that Mr Knox is well on the road to recovery, a long road however with the expected time to be in a cast several weeks.

Everyone at TBCT would like to wish Knoxy the speediest and fullest recovery possible.

DK is obviously keeping spirits high as he doesn't look too down in the dumps from the evidence below:

Knoxy will be pleased to know that sponsors the 'Southbank' bar have excellent disabled facilities and that the TBCT boys look forward to buying him a pint soon.

SEASON 2009 - AWARDS REVIEW (September 2009)

A highly successful 2009 for Trent Bridge Cricket Team was celebrated at the end of season awards at Hooters, with unofficial ‘pro’ John Wakeling dominating proceedings.

An established force at Notts Premier League level on a Saturday for Papplewick, ‘Wako’ was a regular for TBCT in their victorious Nottingham Evening League campaign as well as committing himself to the programme of Sunday friendlies.

After two disappointing summers with rain wiping out the majority of fixtures, this season at least saw TBCT complete all 20 matches, even though the weather at times intervened again. The team claimed 14 wins in all, including seven out of eight in the evening league, as opponents found themselves swept aside by an avalanche of runs from the opening pair of Wakeling and Neil Vanderwalt.

Wakeling finished with a club record season’s haul of 770 runs at an average of 128, including two hundreds and six half-centuries and a high score of 135 not out. His total demolished the previous best of 541 by Mike Tew in 2002.

Just for good measure, Wakeling also claimed the bowling award with 20 victims at 13.00, with a best of 4-17. With those two trophies under his arm, there was only one winner of a newly created MVP award - Wako finishing on 13 points, with Jamie Dickinson second on five. A late submission from other potential candidates for the awards that Wako should be excluded, on the basis of ‘being too good’, were ignored by the committee.

Lewis Goodwin beat off competition from youngsters like Dicko and Tim Taylor to win the Young Player of the Season, after featuring in five matches and picking up a wicket against Colston Bassett.

Finally, Sportsman of the Season went to Neil Vanderwalt, who enjoyed his most consistent summer with the bat in scoring 453 runs at an average of 41, including a massive unbeaten opening partnership of 235 with Wako against Hoveringham. However, a tendency to get out just before reaching 50 had been noted by all, and will need to be rectified at the bar next season.

Car Colston - last game, another washout (7th September 2008)

Constant rain for nothing short of the entire week meant that the last Sunday fixture for TBCT was called off on the saturday before!

A rain stricken start and finish to the season has been frustrating for players, eager to play some decent cricket. TBCT however have, for the first time in the club's history, won ALL Sunday fixtures played in this 2008 season.

Six out of six will be encouraging for the lads who make another club first by touring abroad to Mallorca this year. The weather on the continent has been mostly dry so here's hoping for no more rain affected play to finish the season.

Thrumpton Game a Washout (31st August 2008)

A fovourite fixture of TBCT was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to constant rain!

TBCT remain unbeaten on Sundays with 1 game left against Car Colston on Sunday 7th September.

TBCT into 1/4 Finals - 'Dicko' hit for 7! (19th June 2008)

Trent Bridge eased passed Wilsons to book a spot in the quarter finals of the evening league cup.

The next opponents will be PKCC with the fixture date and venue to be announced.

A new TBCT recored was set against Wilsons, albeit one the holer is not proud of. Jamie Dickinson was the first (and hopefully last) TBCT player to be hit for 7 off one ball.

A simple defensive stroke and quick single lead to an attempted run out which missed the target. The racing ball was unhelpfully tipped onto the helmet by Vanderwalt keeping wicket. A further single meant 5 penalty runs + the 2 scored, 7!
